Good info man! You say it works ok for desert species too, just so long as you allow them a dry place for a while after they molt? How long did you keep desert species in this setup until you moved them on to a less humid environment?

yes i did.

i only left them in the cups like this untill they molted into 2nd instar,
and after they molted they were in a dryer enclosure within 3 hours,
or when they could walk around ok.

and none died or had any problems.

the L.Q's botar has now were one of the desert species i did this with.
and all are alive and very well .

what temp range did you keep them in?
what lighting did you keep them in bright or dark?
did you have to assest in getting the molt off ?

65 - 78 f. is what temps i kept them at.

just the light in the room so not much light i guess.

i only had to help one get out of a molt ( the telosn was stuck)
and i used a Q-tip and warm water and lightly brusehd it off.

helo again telow i was just wondering if these little ones can be over fed cuz i was ofering every day little crickets to them and they go like hot cakes and ive started to notice they are getting quite fat so i have slowed down on the feeding. is it normal for babys to look fat or are they eating to much?

it is normal and especially if they are getting ready to molt,
so i would feed them every few days instead of feeding them every day,

then you should be ok but just keep an eye on them,
and if they start to slim down give them a little food and before you know it they,
will be the next instar up.

good luck with your babies.

wayne.

It's pretty normal for an emperor mom to eat a few of the offspring.
She probably wont have eaten them all unless highly stressed.

The only thing you can try now is place them warm and moist in a kind of incubator.
They have to be 2nd instar before they can help themselves.

Don't have high hopes though, it's pretty difficult to get them to 2nd instar in an incubator as they are very young.

Above picture:

- Substrate, moist and keep moist
- The scorplings are placed on a cloth (piece of clothing or similar)
- Top is also a piece of cloth which has to be able to ventilate

I had little success with this method, but had to check on it very frequent.
